We’re lucky to have Leah on board to share her tips; she has 10 years experience working in the creative and youth sectors, and a genuine passion for creativity and young people. She certainly knows about scaling the career ladder – within six years Leah went from volunteer to Director at the social enterprise, IP1. The organisation’s mission is to promote young people, celebrating their talents and achievements.
In 2012 Leah took on the role of Executive Manager to start-up The Mix, a new charity founded with the goal of improving the lives of young people. The Mix is based in Stowmarket, Suffolk and provides activities and support for young people like yourselves. They offer a whole range of fantastic classes and events for anyone interested in dance, theatre, filmmaking, photography, creative writing and more – see the full list of activities on offer, here.
As well as directing the company, Leah is a creative herself, using her skills as a graphic designer and art director for brand creation and development. Alongside setting up The Mix, Leah started a youth marketing and engagement agency in which she has sold creative services, managed campaigns, and produced creative content.
Leah is also a workshop facilitator working directly with young people and collaborating with them on projects. With such breadth of experience, it will be a rare treat pick her brains when she appears on the panel at THIS IS IT! Ipswich on Monday. Make the most of it by doing your research and asking her some questions!
